Bathed in California sunshine (did we bring some?) Kathy and Rick are smiling with family in Chicago these last two days.
On a visit to the nearby 'Old Orchard' amidst autumn leaves, we were joined by cheerful Cousin Linda Nidetz and her Mom. We had a lively walk and talk. It was special that Linda arranged this meeting with us, as she had just gotten back from a trip to Portland the night before.
We had lunch at 'The Bagel' with these smiling creatures. (No, Kathy did not turn into a pumpkin!)
After lunch we made a surprise appearance at Linda's husband Allen's dental offices. We didn't know it was right there in the mall!
Cousin Sandy Nidetz works for him there as a dental hygienist there too!
Rick kept his hat on, even in the windy city. I say this, as we have had many inquiries!
Rick gives another talk on Tuesday, before we leave, at the University of Chicago.
That same night we had a most heartwarming family gathering. Dinner with Georgie, Elizabeth and Richie. It was so good to be together. Georgie and Richie had just gotten home from a family weekend at Diana's school in Redlands. We were sorry to miss them in California! But we finally were all in one place! And in such a setting... the meal at Campagnola in Evanston was one of the best we have ever had in a restaurant.
So Rick has not made "Rick's Greatest Popcorn" for a week, but look, he's found some anyway. This was at Marshall Field's Department Store , where we also collected some of our favorite dark chocolate 'Frango Mints'.
So we had a sunny day, and autumn is beautiful, but there are no flowers on these trees! See you soon, California!
P.S. WE'RE HOME HAPPILY AND SAFELY IN PASADENA AS OF 11 PM TUESDAY NIGHT!
